My first blog……gulp….
I just finished a radio interview with Bill Baker at WCNY. Hello Syracuse! It was a fun interview and I mentioned how the band Scorpions played ‘Kojo no Tsuki’ or Moonlight Over the Ruined Castle from my latest album, Smile. Kojo no Tsuki is one of the most beautifully haunting pieces of music. That Rentaro Taki died at the young age of 23 (why do so many composers die at such a tragically young age?), is incredible to me. Recently, I also saw an incredible play called ’33 Variations’ with the amazing Jane Fonda in it. The story was about Beethoven, Bonn, ALS, suffering, love, and life. All intertwined our lives are with the same mounting pressures of financial hardships, family relationships, and the pressure to produce. It was so moving to me.
Well, as this is my first taste at writing this blog, it may not be long enough for some, so please excuse me for this but I hope that you will come back and enjoy the site!
Anne,
you really know your music. Here’s a YouTube Video clip of the Scorpions doing it in 1979. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxgtrE1d1NE
On my Facebook page I have posted some great photos I took of them (maybe even covering it) at the Meadowlands Arena in the early 90′s.
Your CD Release show in NYC this past February was outstanding. Everyone in my crowd was captivated. I couldn’t help but notice how focused your eyes were on the moment. There were times when you laid into the violin with such a conviction that the rosen from your bow was huffing off like breath from a dragon.
More than just a musical moment, it conjured it’s own dramatic imagery.
It was vivid.
World up,
Enzo

Please come to saint louis for concert and Tokyo in june!
Greetings from Sweden. Great first blog!
Your post made me think of music of Shawn Lane (1963-2003), another composer and virtuoso who died young and who was inspired by the Scorpions while entering the concert stage as a teenager. His wide influences made me to start listen to classical music.
Shawn composed often intense, always moving music. One of his most beautiful compositions is Epilogue For Lisa, and can be heard on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVRmJm9zEdo&fmt=18
I try to tell music-lovers about him whenever I can, and hope you don’t mind.
Thank you for your inspiring performances, Anne!
Thank you so much for making me aware of Shawn Lane’s artistry.
I was so moved by his performance…so beautiful. It seems the most moving music is uncomplicated, undiluted and usually slow. Like Arvo Part’s ‘Spiegel im Spiegel’ or Somei Satoh’s ‘Birds in Warped Time II’.
Best Wishes there in Sweden!
Anne
@aam
I’m really happy to get a response from you. I hope to catch some of those interviews you did the other day!
Slow, focused music has a way of calming people and encouraging contemplation, I think.
